Nature-based solutions (NBS) are gaining traction in cities across the world as critical solutions to advance climate adaptation, water security, job creation, and more. While there are many benefits to these solutions, they can provide even more to city residents if they are planned to intentionally incorporate gender and social equity.

As part of the NGO-CSW Forum, this session will showcase the innovative ways that WRI’s experts have used social and gender data to inform decisions about equitable, safe, and accessible NBS that reflect the priorities of women and other marginalized groups in cities. The event will highlight examples from cities in Ethiopia and Indonesia that are meaningfully integrating gender and social equity considerations into their policies and plans. The event will include perspectives from city leaders who are moving these policies forward.
